Homewood Police Blotter: Cut Bushes, Stolen Downspouts and Slashed Tires

Thursday, March 24

Stolen Icehouse

Maisha Rowe, 22, of the 17800 block of Tipton, was charged with criminal trespassing and retail theft, accused of stealing a 24-ounce can of Icehouse beer (priced at $1.38) from United Liquors at 10:25 a.m., according to police. Police said Rowe was previously issued a no trespass order for United Liquors on Feb. 10, 2010.

Stolen License Plate

Someone stole the front license place of a Glenwood man’s vehicle on the 1200 block of 190th Street between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 18, according to police. The report was filed on March 24.

Stolen Church Downspouts

Someone stole two 20-foot copper downspouts from the north side of Faith Lutheran Church between 5 p.m. on March 19 and 8:30 a.m. on March 23, according to police.

Slashed Tires

A Homewood man’s tires were slashed on the 18800 block of Morgan Street between noon on March 22 and noon on March 23, according to police.

Wednesday, March 23

Stolen Door Pins

The door pins of a Homewood business owner’s office door were stolen near 5 p.m., according to police. The office door was placed up against the business owner’s desk, the report said.

Stolen Alcohol

Robert T. Allen, 18, of the 3300 block of Maple Lane in Hazel Crest, was charged with retail theft. He's accused of stealing a bottle of Cointreau liquor from Kmart, 17550 Halsted, at 4:30 p.m., according to police.

Retail Theft

A juvenile was charged with retail theft after stealing nearly $50 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 17550 Halsted, at 5 p.m., according to police.

Cut Bushes

Someone cut down a hedgerow of bushes along the back fence of a Homewood woman’s home between 7 a.m. and noon on March 21. Police said the estimated damage is $100.

Monday, March 21

Home Burglary

Someone broke into a Homewood woman’s home between 7:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to police. Police said the burglar came in through the kitchen window and stole just over $2,000 worth of electronics.

Damaged Vehicle

Someone threw an object at a Homewood woman’s vehicle as she was driving on the 1000 block of 183rd Street at 7 p.m., according to police. Police said a wet substance was left behind from the impact and the paint above the windshield was damaged.

Broken School Window

Someone used an unknown object to break a window at St. Joseph’s School between 10 p.m. on March 18 and 7:30 a.m. on March 21, according to police.
