Drunken Driver Almost Hits Cop; Dog Attacks 6 Year Old: Homewood Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 28

Near Cop Car Collision

Jeffrey Forstall, 30, of the 18400 block of Cowing Court in Homewood, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and illegal squeaking of tires. Police said Forstall was driving on the wrong side of the road when he nearly collided with a patrol car and fled away, squeaking his tires around a corner. He was eventually stopped near Dixie Highway and Olive Road around 1:15 a.m. Police said he smelled of alcohol and was arrested, police said.

Retail Theft Team

Verlene Tyree, 48, of the 4000 block of 186th Place in Country Club Hills, and Beatrice Lilly, 48, of the 19000 block of Amlin Circle in Country Club Hills, were charged with retail theft. Security officers told police that Tyree and Lilly left a store in the 17500 block of Halsted Street around 3:30 p.m. without paying for clothing and bottles of perfume and alcohol. They were stopped by security outside the store and later arrested by police, according to the report.

Possession of Cannabis

Amanda Roberts, 24, of the 600 block of Sequoia Lane in Flossmoor, was charged with possession of cannabis and arrested on a Chicago warrant for battery. Police said they smelled burnt marijuana after stopping Robert’s car near Dixie Highway and Terrace Road around 4 p.m. Officers found two small bags of marijuana in her glove box, according to the report.

Damage to Property

Cameron Jones, 25, of the 200 block of Park Drive in Glenwood, was charged with criminal damage to property. Police said Jones kicked in a door in the 1200 block of 183rd Street around 7 p.m. during a domestic dispute.

MONDAY, DEC. 26

Dog Attack

A Homewood couple was petitioning the county to euthanize its Akita-Lab-mixed dog after it bit their 6-year-old grandson without provocation, police said. The boy was treated at Advocate South Suburban Hospital around 7 p.m. with cuts to his face and neck. The dog was up to date on its rabies vaccinations, according to police.
