Tire Cut on Hickory Road

A Homewood resident said someone cut the right front passenger tire on her vehicle, which was parked in the 1900 block of Hickory Road. It's believed that the vandal or vandals used a knife or razor type tool on the car, which was parked in the rear of the woman's residence, police said. The replacement cost of the Bridgestone tire was estimated at $190.

A Dozen Plus Missed Visits with Son

The lobby of the Homewood police station was witness to a quiet family drama as a Joliet man again waited in vain for the court-awarded visitation with his son, police said. The boy's mother has been instructed by the court to bring the child to meet with his father Saturday morning, with the visit continuing until Sunday evening, according to the report. However, the father has been disappointed when the mother failed to appear with his son for more than a dozen times, police said. A Homewood officer tried to reach the child's mother, but she did not answer her cell phone or home phone. The officer gave the father a victim information notice and advised him to follow up at the Cook County Clerk’s office by filing a motion—Rule to Show Cause—for the boy's mother to be in contempt of the order, according to the report.

Swearing, Screaming Juvenile Arrested at Homewood Days

A screaming, swearing juvenile was arrested after creating a disturbance at Homewood Days, police said. Around 8:47 p.m. Friday night at 18625 Dixie Hwy., an officer asked the juvenile male to leave the fest, concerned that his conduct could pose problems to others, according to the report. The juvenile refused and began to swear, scream and create a disturbance, and tried to gain support from friends to re-enter the festival, and stated he did not have to leave, police said. After the officer gave the juvenile “numerous” warnings, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Homewood police department, issued a move ticket for criminal trespass and released pending notification of his hearing date, according to the report.

Runaround Tax Preparer Upsets Homewood Woman

A Homewood woman upset with her tax preparer visited Homewood police headquarters to complain that she's getting the runaround. The woman said she gave the tax preparer her paperwork on April 14 and has called each week since that date inquiring when her taxes will be filed. The woman she hired to prepare her paperwork makes repeated excuses as to why the tax document has not been filed, according to the police report. During the latest phone call, the client asked for her W-2s and paperwork back and the tax preparer responded that her home had been burglarized, she had "no sympathy" for her client and added, "as a tax preparer, it is not my responsibility to keep track of your paperwork," the report said. When the client responded that she would have no recourse but to go to police, the preparer responded, “Go ahead and get it the best way you can,” according to the report. The woman told police she now fears that the unethical tax preparer will use her personal information for illicit gain.
