Homewood Police Issues Cell Phone Robbery Warning

A group of up to four young men have been identified as culprits in a string of cell phone robberies on Homewood's east side, according to police.

The Homewood Police Department issued an alert warning residents of a string of recent robberies on the east side of town.

Police say a group of up to four young men between the ages of 18 and 21 have been stealing the cell phones of victims on their way to of from their homes or cars. The crimes have typically occurred east of Ashland Ave. and Riegel Road. on main streets such as 183rd and 187th Street, between the times of 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.,

  • One of the men is described as heavy set, with dark facial complexion and dreadlocks. 
  • A second man is described as skinny, with medium completion, dreads and facial hair.
  • A third man is described as thin, with short hair and dark completion.
  • A fourth man is described with a medium build, short hair and a dark complexion.
