Lawsuit Filed by Family of Man Slain in East Hazel Crest

Ryan Rogers, 27, was shot and killed on March 19. A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of his family against Chicago officers.

The family of a man shot by Chicago police in East Hazel Crest is suing three officers, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Officers had the apartment of Ryan Rogers, 27, under surveillance when was killed on March 19, according to reports. A statement from Chicago police said Rogers drove toward the officers in a van and hit a police car.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed on behalf of Rogers’ mother, his children and their mother, the Tribune reports. It alleges that police used excessive force and that Rogers didn't provoke officers.
