Priceless Turtle Decoration Stolen

Someone stole a metal turtle decoration from the front stoop of a Homewood resident’s apartment on the 1900 block of Hickory Road, according to police.  The owner told police on Dec. 11 that the turtle was stolen sometime between 8 a.m. on Nov. 17 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 18. Police say the metal turtle was painted green with a few white paint spots. It also has a secret compartment under its shell, which lifts up when the head is stepped on, according to reports. The owner of the turtle told police it was a priceless possession, according to the report. 

Possession of Marijuana

Police pulled a woman over on the 1100 block of Birch Road just before 2:30 a.m. after running her plates and discovering her vehicle is not registered to this area, according to reports. Police searched the car after detecting the smell of marijuana, reports say. A metal grinder with marijuana in it and a plastic bag of marijuana were recovered, totaling two grams of marijuana total, reports say. Police issued the woman a citation for possession of marijuana, according to the report.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7

Man Beaten and Robbed

A man was beaten and robbed on the 1700 block of 187th Street at 9:45 p.m., according to police. The man said he parked his car a block east of the 187th Street party he was going to and began walking over when a group of unknown black juveniles jumped him, according to reports. Police say the assailants threw the man to the ground and beat him with both hands and feet. One of the attackers reached into the man's pocket and robbed him of his possessions and then they fled, according to the report.
