Counterfeit Bills
Marquez Montgomery, 22, of the 1100 block of 100th Place in Chicago was charged with deceptive practice. Police said Montgomery was caught on surveillance using a counterfeit $20 bill to purchase a bottle of Hennessy Cognac from a liquor store in the 18200 block of Halsted Street around 6:45 p.m. He was arrested in a nearby parking lot with another counterfeit $20 bill in his pocket, according to the report.
Officers found a small bag of marijuana in the pocket of a man Montgomery was with at the time.

Police are also looking for a woman who passed off a counterfeit $20 bill at a café in the 17800 block of Halsted Street around 6:30 p.m. and got away with a drink and $16.50 cash.
Stolen Car Crash
A man crashed a stolen car into two trees in the 18000 block of Park Avenue around 1 a.m. and got away on foot, police said. Homewood officers began tailing a silver Mercury Cougar when a call for assistance came in from Country Club Hills police, but the car refused to stop and eventually spun out, striking several trees. No other information was released about a possible suspect.

FRIDAY, APRIL 13
Warrant Arrest
Ronald M. Grayer, 26, of the 18900 block of Hamlin Avenue in Flossmoor, was arrested around 5:20 p.m. in Homewood on two driving with a suspended license warrants—one out of and one out of Country Club Hills. His bail was set at $5,000.

Identity Theft
Four fraudulent debit card charges totaling $22,479 were reported by a Homewood woman. She told police that the day before she got a call from her bank about suspicious electronics purchases over the Internet.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11
Missing Cartoon Costumes
The owner of a former magic shop in the 18700 block of Dixie Highway told police that a customer never returned the Minnie Mouse and Sponge Bob Square Pants costumes she rented for $214 on Feb 13. According to the report, the owner made two attempts to charge a card on file for $1,200, the full cost of the costumes. Police said they left the woman a voice message looking to resolve the matter without charges.
