Broken Rear Window
Someone broke a window in the rear of the house of a Homewood woman just after 4:45 p.m., according to a police report. Police said an empty beer bottle was found in the room with the broken window.
Monday, Feb. 21Stolen Cell Phone
A black male, described as being about 35 years old, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds stole a cell phone valued at $199.99 from Best Buy, 17800 S. Halsted St., according to a police report. A witness said she observed the man remove the phone from its packaging and then exit the store without paying for it. Police said the man fled southbound on foot after exiting the store. The area was searched with no results.

Stolen Car Mirror
Someone stole a side-view mirror from a Pennsylvania woman’s rented vehicle on the 17600 block of Halsted between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., police said.
Wallet Contents Stolen
Someone stole the contents of a Homewood woman’s wallet on the 17800 block of Halsted between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., according to police. The woman dropped her wallet in the parking lot, and when she found it, she noticed that a checkbook, bank card, identification and an unknown amount of cash had been removed, according to the report.

Bizarre Break-In
An unknown group of people entered a Homewood woman’s apartment sometime between 9:50 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. and splattered an unknown substance on the walls and furniture, according to police. The substance, dark red in color, damaged a medical sleeping mattress valued at $800.
Stolen Purse
A Glenwood woman’s purse was stolen from a shopping cart in Target between 3:15 p.m. and 3:25 p.m., according to police. The woman said she had left her purse in the cart, unattended, and when she came back it was missing. Police said the total value of the stolen property is $110.
Stolen Car Battery
Someone stole a Homewood man’s car battery from under the hood of his vehicle sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 8:20 a.m. on Feb. 18, according to police. It is unknown whether the vehicle was locked or unlocked.
