Police to Host Training Drills at James Hart

Homewood police say they've been working closely with School District 153 to help make sure the village is prepared in the event of a major incident.

Homewood police will hold a critical incident training drill at James Hart on Wednesday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Officers from Glenwood, East Hazel Crest, Flossmoor and Thornton will also participate, as will the Homewood Fire and Public Works Departments.

"Homewood strives to be ready for any unexpected incident that may occur," Homewood Village Manager Jim Marino said in a press release. "This drill will provide the practical exercise we need to strengthen Homewood's working relationship with multiple agencies and communities so that together we are prepared."

"This exercise is designed to educate all participants on guidelines and protocol for a coordinated, seamless response to a major incident," McGrath said. "Critical incidents across the nation have demonstrated that preparation and training are important factors when public safety entities respond during crisis situations."
