'Really Big Fire' Renders Flossmoor Home Uninhabitable

There were no injuries in a house fire Tuesday night that remains under investigation, said Flossmoor Assistant Fire Chief Keith Damm.

No one was seriously injured in a house fire at 1705 Cambridge in Flossmoor late Tuesday, Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Keith Damm told Patch Wednesday.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which caused "extensive" damage to the house and displaced the homeowner, he said.

No one was home at the time of the fire. The homeowner's residential fire alarm system alerted authorities around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Damm said one firefighter was taken to the hospital for a fire-related injury, but was released in good condition.

It took about an hour to get the fire under control, the assistant chief said.

"We did a great job of controlling a really big fire," Damm said.

The residents have been displaced, but are staying at another residence downtown, he added.
