Routine Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Charges

Several necklaces draped over a rear-view mirror wound up getting one Dolton man into a heap of trouble.

Kevin E. Dixon, 45, of 14618 Dante Avenue in Dolton, was charged with obstructing identification after he was stopped in the 1400 block of Ridge Road at 8:53 a.m on Thursday, June 14.

Police said necklaces that hung from Dixon’s rearview mirror obstructed his view and he was cited for having an obstructed windshield also. Police then learned the license plates on the vehicle were registered to another vehicle.

Dixon told police his name was Darrell Williams and that he didn’t have his driver’s license on him. Police learned Dixon’s real name from a passenger in the vehicle and that there were two outstanding warrants against him; one from Markham and one from Palos Heights.

He was also charged with driving while license revoked, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, improper display of license plates and operation of a vehicle with expired registration. He was held for a bond hearing in Markham the next day.
