Flossmoor Police Blotter: Stolen SUV Turns Up On Owner's Front Lawn

MONDAY, OCT. 24

Stolen Pipe, Chandelier

Five feet of copper piping and a chandelier were stolen from a vacant home for sale in the 2200 block of Flossmoor Road, police said. On the morning of Oct. 24, police found pieces of chandelier scattered in the living room and a Chicago Cubs lighter on the basement floor, which was collected as possible evidence of a crime, according to the report.

Police said they were called to the house after neighbors noticed the home’s back door had been broken open.

SUNDAY, OCT. 23

Fingerprints Taken from Stolen Car

Police recovered fingerprints off a white Ford Escape that was reported stolen the day before and then abandoned after colliding with a tree in the owner's front yard in the 2300 block of Marston Lane. The key was left in the ignition, and the car sustained front end damage, according to the report. The owner told police her purse containing the car keys had been stolen one week prior. The family heard a crash around 4 a.m. and found the airbag deployed without anyone inside, police said.

Dog Attacked Minor

Police are looking for information about a dog accused of biting a 12-year-old boy in his armpit in the 2400 block of Flossmoor Road on around 7:30 p.m. The dog was described as an apricot/grey Labrador-Poodle mix and the owner was described as a woman between 35 and 40 years old with short, blond hair.

Rec Shed Attacked

Police said a storage shed in the 2500 block of Flossmoor Road was damaged between Oct. 16 and 23. The wood siding had been pulled off one wall and the insulation pulled back, though nothing was reported missing, according to the report. The door had been kicked repeatedly, leaving shoe prints, police said.
