A 15-year-old Country Club Hills youth was sent to the Audy Home in Chicago after being charged in connection with a residential burglary, according to police.

A 15-year-old Country Club Hills youth was charged with residential burglary after the careful forensic work of local officers revealed a latent fingerprint, Deputy Chief Michael Pulec said.

"How we got him was through an AFIS match," said Pulec.

AFIS, short for Automated Fingerprint Identification System, is what the Illinois Crime Lab used to confirm the identity of the burglar.

The teen was charged in connection with a burglary on Oct. 18, 2010 at a home on the 18900 block of Crawford, according to police. In that burglary, police believe the youth removed the resident's property, but then fled, fearing detection, Pulec said. Two flat screen televisions, which had been removed from the home, were recovered from the resident's backyard, according to Pulec.

The juvenile has been transferred to the Arthur J. Audy Home Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, according to Pulec.
