Teen Plummets into Ventilation Shaft Outside Flossmoor Library

The teen was in stable condition after the incident.

A 15-year-old boy teenage boy who fell down a vent outside the Flossmoor Public Library Friday was taken to the hospital in stable condition, ABC7 reports

The teen was reportedly sitting on the grate outside the library, 1000 Sterling Ave., when he fell about 20 to 25 feet down the shaft around 5 p.m. It took firefighters roughly 40 minutes to free him.

The grate covered a concrete shaft that releases steam and hot air from the library’s ventilation system, Sun-Times Media reports.
