Attention Super K-Mart Shopper, You’re Busted

A shopper got more than she bargained for after she took items with a combined retail value of nearly $78 from Super K-Mart, 17550 S. Halsted. Store loss prevention agents told police the would-be thief paid for some items, but not for a cookbook, pair of hair trimmers and a flat iron she’d hidden in her cart and purse. She was ticketed for retail theft at 12:22 p.m.

Pick a Card, Any Card

McKinley Morris, 27, who lives at 17715 Stonebridge Drive in Hazel Crest, was charged with theft and deceptive practices at 11:55 a.m. Police said Morris had in his possession a wallet containing credit cards and other identification cards that were not his own and were reported missing the previous day. The rightful owner of the wallet told police about $140 was missing from his recovered billfold. Morris allegedly used a credit card belonging to a second victim to purchase about a gallon of gasoline at the 7-Eleven, 3154 W. 183rd Street. He was also charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license revoked.

Caught with Cocaine

Matthew Miller, 30, 5313 N. Ravenswood, Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after the vehicle he drove was stopped at 2:40 a.m. at 187th Street and Center Avenue, police said. “There may be some cocaine,” was allegedly Miller’s response when police asked if he had anything illegal on his person. Police found a total of 1.5 grams of coke in three small plastic bags and a capsule that were found on Miller and in the vehicle. He was also cited with disobeying a traffic signal and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, according to the police report.

Stolen Bike Recovered

Police issued a juvenile male a municipal ordinance violation citation at 8:54 p.m. after he took a bike that did not belong to him, police said. The owner of the heisted bike told police he saw the offender ride his green and black FS20 Trick bike away from Ridge Road and Irwin Park where he had left it unlocked. Police later caught the alleged bike thief in front of St. Paul Community Church and returned the $200 bike to the owner. The young offender was ticketed and released to the custody of his mother, police said.
