Homewood police reports, Feb 14-15

SATURDAY, FEB. 18

Disorderly Conduct

Almanza Shelton, 56, of the 3700 block of Wabash Avenue in Chicago was charged with disorderly conduct. A man told police he was leaving Homewood Liquors around 1 p.m. when Shelton asked for money and was denied. The man said Shelton then threw a rock at his car, striking the hood and windshield but causing no damage.

Outdoor Urinal

A Harvey man was cited with disorderly conduct after he was accused of urinating on the north side of a medical office in the 2600 block of 183rd Street around 3 p.m. Police said the man denied the allegation until he was identified by several witnesses. Homewood police do not release the names of people charged with municipal, opposed to state, offenses.

One Day, One Store

Brenda Minter, 44, of the 15400 block of Birch Road in Markham was charged with retail theft. Security at a store in the 17500 block of Halsted Street told police Minter hid several articles of clothing totaling $85 in her sweatshirt and left the store around 11:30 a.m. without paying.

Less than an hour later, Serena Whaley, 47, of the 21700 block of Azure Drive in Frankfort was also charged with retail theft. Security told police Whaley removed the sensors from five water filter boxes and walked past the south doors.

About four hours after that, at the same store, Vernon Banks, 44, of the 14700 block of Campbell Avenue in Harvey was charged with retail theft. This time, security said Banks was stopped attempting to walk out the north doors with three pairs of unpaid glasses in his coat pocket.

MONDAY, FEB. 13

Warrant Arrest

John F. Woods, 39, of the 100 block of Nashua Street in Park Forest, was arrested around 11:20 a.m. in the 19000 block of Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park, on two failure-to-appear warrants out of the Homewood Police Department. Each warrant came with a set bail of $25,000.
