Several People Injured in 3-Car Accident at 183rd and Kedzie

Three vehicles were involved in an accident at the intersection of 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue in Homewood around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Several people were injured in a three-car collision that happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 183rd Street and Kedzie Avenue in Homewood.

Police Chief Larry Burnson said Homewood firefighters needed to use the "jaws of life" to extract the driver from one of the vehicles. A child was riding as a passenger in that vehicle, according to Homewood police. The child is reported to be in stable condition.

Another driver was able to walk over to an ambulance, while the third driver, an elderly person, was placed in a neck brace and taken away on a stretcher, according to police.
