Tire Slasher Struck 2 Cars in Homewood, Says Resident

Were the tires on your car or SUV punctured over the weekend? One Homewood resident contacted Patch and wanted us to warm the community.

A tire slasher might be on the prowl in Homewood's southeast side.

Tires were slashed on at least two cars over the weekend, a concerned reader told Patch.

The vandalism happened around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the Homewood resident. Her husband heard a hissing sound while they were spending time in the backyard of their home in the 1800 block of Marshfield Avenue—but the two thought nothing of it.

It was until Saturday evening when they discovered that two tires on a car they left parked in the street were punctured. The rear one had 5 punctures from a knife, while the front tire had three gashes.

Homewood police were called and the couple filed a report.

It turns out they weren't alone. A neighbor who lives four houses away also found their tires slashed and reported it Saturday morning, according to the reader.

The Homewood resident who contacted Patch editor Ryan Fitzpatrick asked us to tell the community about the incidents, so that people can be aware and mindful of their cars.
