Appointments, Resolutions and Twisted Q

A review of items discussed at the April 26 Homewood Village Board meeting.

Main Focus: 

The sound of applause and the clicks of camera shutters filled the air at the April 26 Village of Homewood Board of Trustees meeting as relatives and friends filled the seats to watch their loved ones being honored or sworn in.

The newly appointed village workers and trustees include: Steven Gutzmer, the newly appointed village firefighter and paramedic; Craig JaBaay, a new utility maintenance worker; and Lisa Purcell and Jay Heiferman, both new village trustees.

Trustee Heiferman was appointed by Mayor Rich Hofeld after election winner Alissa Opyd declined the position in favor of another village job in the office of community information coordination.

Residents honored for their service to village of Homewood include: Harry Boerema, Alan Engel and Gerald Tienstra for their 35 years of service in the police department.

Outgoing Trustees Joseph Casella and Glenn Tienstra were also honored for their years of service. 

Meet Your Merchants:

Owners of Thomas Photographic Services, Colin and Angela Thomas, made a short presentation to attendees to inform them of their grand opening, which will take place on May 1 at 18705 Dixie Highway. The first week will feature such events and specials as a ribbon cutting ceremony, 25 percent off large format art prints and $5 Facebook profile picture day. Liquor License Request:

The board approved a request to grant Twisted Q BBQ & Bakery a Class 7 Beer and Wine Only liquor license.  

“(The availability of alcoholic beverages will) enhance the livelihood of guests and improve the overall dining experience,” said Co-Owner Tim Donahue.

Twisted Q, which is set to open on June 1, will be located at 2053 Ridge Road, the site of the now closed .
