Building Code Updates; Air Compressor: On the Agenda

Flossmoor's regularly scheduled Village Council meeting will be held on Monday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

2012 Internation Building Code Adoption

The last time building codes were updated was 2007, according to a memo sent by Flossmoor Assistant Fire Chief Kieth Damm. The series of ordinance amendments proposed in the agenda packet are designed to improve the safety of structures, ranging from new smoke detector requirements to restrictions on roof-top gardens.

New Air Compressor for the Fire Department

Flossmoor Fire Chief Chris Sewall is asking for about $3,000 more than the budgeted $45,050 to replace an air compressor system for refilling the self-contained breathing apparatuses used by Flossmoor Firefighters.

Budget Discussion

The village board will discuss the finance and facilities plan for the fiscal year 2013 preliminary budget. Included is a plan from public works for infrastructure rehabilitation, maintenance and improvement and a capital program for the Southwest Flossmoor TIF District.

Water System Improvements

With no help from increased water rates imposed by the City of Chicago, Flossmoor Finance Director Scott Bordui has identified a $638,269 deficit projected in the fiscal year 2013 budget. The board will discuss the various options available to respond to (and ideally remedy) the situation.
