Chipotle Will Sell Liquor: Homewood Board Recap

Also, the village is getting two new vehicles and the upcoming Grapes and Grain Co. beer and wine store will receive village funding for property improvement.

Homewood Buys Two New Vehicles

The board voted to waive bidding requirements and approved $45,509.85 for the purchase of one new Chevy Tahoe and one new Ford F350, both through Illinois State Purchase contracts.

Liquor License Approved for Chipotle

Despite some confusion among the board as to why Chipotle previously insisted on not needing a liquor license, the trustees unanimously voted to add and approve a Class 5 liquor license for the upcoming Chipotle restaurant on 17700 Halsted. Previously, was the only Class 5 license holder.

A minor snag occured, however, when the representative from Chipotle realized there was no language in the agreement to allow for alcoholic beverages to be taken outside on the patio. The board still voted to allow the Class 5 license and advised Chipotle to come back with a request for outdoor alcohol permission.

Chipotle plans to sell beer and margaritas with the new license.

Board Approves Incentive Money for Upcoming "Grapes and Grain Co." Property Improvements

The village board voted to approve no more than $47,629 through the Retail Enhancement, Façade and Property Improvement and the Go Green Reward programs, to assist Ron Khalaf in developing his upcoming boutique wine and craft beer store, Grapes and Grain Co. The soon-to-be store is located at 18031 Dixie Highway.

Is Chipotle owned by McDonald's?

The company was started and run by Mc D's but they spun it off into a separate company I believe.

Geoff, that's correct :)

McDonald's invested in Chipotle in 1998, purchased it in 1999 and sold it in 2006. Steve Ellis started the chain in 1993.

Why in the world would they want to sell liquor? You run in order tacos and a burrito sit down grab a non alcohol drink eat and go --- Chipotle isn't Cilantro -- Its Quick Serve Food.... Absolutely no need for Booze! Makes no sense... Hey MacDonalds Get Out of the Booze Business -- You don't know it and all that's gonna happen is the employees will drink it.

Just because a business sells liquor doesn't mean the employees are all of the sudden going to start drinking it. Restaurants are always concerned with the bottom line and will quickly notice if high priced items like alcohol go missing...plus, these types of restaurants tend to have cameras inside as well.

To JP First of all, it's "McDonald's" and not "MacDonalds." Secondly, McDonald's does not own Chipotle anymore. Third, Chipotle has never had a problem in any of their stores with liquor being sold or being used by their employees, and I can assure you that they will not start now. You're right about one thing. Chipotle isn't Cilantro. It's better!
