President Barack Obama this weekend said he will let Congress decide whether to attack Syria after an alleged chemical weapons attack by Syrian President Bashar Assad that is reported to have killed more than 1,400 people and violated international rules of war.
Kathleen Klok, of Flossmoor: "I am totally against any kind of intervention in Syria. I am truly sorry for the deaths, but we are not the world's police force. We need to turn our attention to and spend our money in the U.S. to fix our infrastructure, keep (Social Security) and Medicare intact, bring jobs back from China. Stay out."
Suzi Pollak, of Chicago Heights: "I am opposed to bombing Syria. We as a nation, and inhabitants of this planet, can not afford to start another war. Please vote no on military action in Syria."
