Jesse Jackson Jr.'s Investigation Ends in Plea Deal

The former U.S. representative's plea deal will include jail time, according to Sun-Times Media reports.

Former 2nd District Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has signed a plea deal with prosecutors, Sun-Times Media reports

Sources close to the investigation yesterday reported that the deal could include “significant jail time” for the defamed U.S. Representative.

Jackson has been subject of a federal investigation since October 2012, for alleged misuse of campaign funds. Reports of Jackson’s misused finances include the purchase of a $40,000 Rolex watch and $5,000 per month to pay his wife’s consulting firm, according to the Sun-Times.

Jackson’s wife, Sandi, is also in the crosshairs of a federal probe that spawned from Jackson’s initial investigation.

Why offer a plea deal? lock him up and take his pension away!

If junior ran for his old office tomorrow, his brain dead followers would reelect him by a landslide.
Juvenal February 8, 2013 at 06:59 pm
So we're two for two on federal convictions in this office since 2004 and nearly two dozen people still WANT this job????????????
Sadb February 8, 2013 at 07:56 pm
Largo Amen!!!
Mustang February 8, 2013 at 08:59 pm
Wow Largo, that's a pretty offensive, low brow thing to say....was that meant as a joke? I can understand frustration with JJJ and all his shenanigans, but posting racist comments that sound like audio clips from 1950's seems to be uncalled for.
Please clarify.

Looks like the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Jr and Sr should both be in jail.
Check out this book about all the scams that Jessie Sr pulls. www.pittsreport.com/.../shakedown-exposing-the-real-jesse-jackson-...
nick February 9, 2013 at 12:22 am
I agree, lock them all up. Including the two Jackson brothers that were awarded a Budweiser distributorship after Jessie Sr stopped boycotting Budweiser.

I am concerned about the lack of checks and balances is the system. How can all this corruption happen and other don't know about it? And if others do know about it, they too should be punished. This also happens in medical billing, one of the reason our economy is in such dire straights. Every dime that is being spend to be approved by several different entities. You can trust people's honesty. Gaumy
Connie Mosley February 9, 2013 at 01:04 pm
I mean you can't trust people to be honest.
Connie Mosley February 9, 2013 at 02:12 pm
Bad idea to print Largo's comment. I don't want to be a part of something (Patch) that allows stupid racist comments like that.
Ricardo D. Johnson February 9, 2013 at 03:00 pm
I find Largo's comment to be offensive!!! While it may be appropriate to be frustrated with JJJ, such frustration, anger, and intolerance should not be directed at every "prominent African American personality". I don't recall such public response when two consecutive governors went to prison. At any rate, fraud has no color, so JJJ's race should not be an issue.
BlackHawks Fan February 9, 2013 at 03:10 pm
When you see a comment like the one Largo said it should be flagged and reported by email to the editor. I did.
Juvenal February 9, 2013 at 03:55 pm
Corruption exists because, well, people are pretty stupid. As George Carlin said, "you know how dumb the average person is? Just remember, half the people are dumber than that," Very few smart people go into politics - especially in Cook Coutny, and apparently very few people vote with the overall interests of society in mind -- if they could even look at the candidates and figure out whose election would actually result in that. The machine in this area is completely self perpetuating, trading votes for patronage jobs, political donations for government contracts, and the courts and prosecutors and attorney general here are part of that system. Only the Federal prosecutors and federal courts are largely immune, but even a pretty dedicated prosecutor like Pat Fitzgerald focuses on a few big fish (and the headlines they grab) rather than attempting to truly reform the system...

Think JOB CREATION! We need to pressure Quinn and the Fed's to keep the planned closings of prisons open for Pol's hire more Guards and staff they can put convicted bangers in the same prisons and the State Treasurers and bureaucrats who send our tax and lottery money to the TEL AVIV CENTRAL BANK!
Dinkum February 12, 2013 at 04:19 pm
And so they did. And so he goes....to prison.
All you have to do is read the posts from MIA Jackson voters to understand how this can happen (and most likely will continue). The majority vote is based on party line, race, and their own misguided self-interests or beliefs. Jackson going to jail is the tip of the iceberg. The real story, to quote Paul Harvey, is about greed, corruption, and D2 voters enabling a dysfunctional system.

When this started I thought it would be a great alternative to the old local Star newspaper. NowRead More there is less and less real news and more "stuff". It is a disappointment to those of us who look for local news, especially for news of the local government and local agencies.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Anita. Can you tell me which types of stories you'd like to see moreRead More of, and I can work on it? We want to give you a product you enjoy.

Ms. Wallace, so sorry for the inconvenience. Please know that we do plan to make the X1 availableRead More more widely over time. To make for the best possible customer experience and to manage inventories of new equipment as it becomes available, we tend to start small and expand availability of new technologies. Note also that X1 requires a professional installation, so we are targeting customers that would require professional installation anyway.

The DirecTV interface in 2001 was better than what Comcast offers today to its existing highest tierRead More customers. As a decade+ customer, this is pretty frustrating. So, if I downgrade my service, then upgrade it back, I can have X1?

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't this kid go to Chicago Public Schools Simeon high School? Why isRead More he touted as a Southland Viking when he never played at HF?????
Jack Sheehan June 15, 2013 at 02:27 pm
You are correct that Corey Ray attended Simeon High School, but he now plays for a collegiate summerRead More baseball team called the Southland Vikings. Other than the fact that Southland's home field is the H-F High School field, there are no other connections between the Southland Vikings and the H-F High School Vikings.
