Keeping the Zen, Amending the Budget and Buying Salt

Village of Floosmoor trustees made quick work of the agenda at a regular board meeting earlier this week.

Had it not been for public comments,  trustees may have spent about 20 minutes total in their regular meeting earlier this week.

After listening to comments from village residents about property vandalism, parking tickets and a lengthy discussion about consideration of a plat consolidation (that was ultimately tabled), officials made quick work of the rest of the agenda.

Trustees unanimously approved:

  • A special use permit for Zen Bakery, 1040 Sterling Ave. The bakery . 
  • Budget amendments, which Mayor Paul Braun described as "housekeeping" items that must be submitted to the Cook County Clerk's Office.
  • Purchase of loader-backhoe to replace equipment bought in 2003. Though the loader-backhoe cost $105,633 -- including a hydraulic breaker -- a trade-in of the old backhoe saved the village $31,000.
  • Purchase of 650 tons of de-icing salt for $45,196.80.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8.
