NAACP To Investigate Flossmoor Village Hiring Practices

The website eNews Park Forest is reporting that the NAACP has requested documents from Flossmoor's Village Hall through the Freedom of Information Act.

The Suburban Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is investigating the hiring practices at , according to a report from eNews Park Forest

According to reports, South Suburban NAACP Branch President David Lowery sent a letter to Flossmoor Village Manager Bridget Wachtel requesting hiring, promotional advancement disparity and training documents in addition to departmental data under the Freedom of Information Act.

The NAACP is aware of the demographics of the Village of Flossmoor; with African Americans representing 47.8% of the population of Flossmoor, Caucasians representing 43.9%, and Asians 2.5% (U.S Census 2010). The NAACP looks to compare and contrast the data collected. -David Lowery

Reports say that Lowery's letter includes eleven additional pages. Additional inquiries seek information on the number of African American employees in a wider variety of village departments including administration, police and public works, according to the report.
