Purchase of two Chevy Tahoe police interceptors

Competitive bidding requirements were waived in favor of purchasing the two vehicles from Miles Chevrolet at the total price of $53,049.70.

Police Chief Larry Burnson said the new Tahoes are being purchased to replace two of aging Crown Victoria interceptors. Burnson said Ford has discontinued the Crown Victoria line and is now outfitting the Taurus with police modifications. For the price and size, Burnson says the Tahoes are a better choice than the Taurus.

The vote: Yes, unanimous (Trustee Colton was absent).

Police union collective bargaining agreement

The board voted to approve the collective bargaining agreement between the village and the Metropolitan Alliance of Police Chapter 621  for the period covering 2010 to 2015.

The vote: Yes, unanimous (Trustee Colton was absent).

The quote: “All I can say is, as with the Public Works contract, the spirit of cooperation—to work harmoniously with the village—is no different and appreciated,” President Richard Hofeld said.

All of the Trustees wished the community a safe and happy holiday season during the closing remarks session.
