No Parking: Vehicles in Bikeways Can Now Be Ticketed
Drivers will have to be more cautious when choosing where to park it, after board members passed a new measure against parking in bike lanes.
Drivers around town need to be more careful about where they park, after the Homewood Village Board recently agreed to prohibiting parking in bike lanes.
Cars parked in bike lanes will be ticketed, under the new ordinance.
“It's just establishing an ordinance that allows our police department to enforce traffic on our bikeway system,” said Homewood Village Manager Jim Marino. “It wasn't an issue last year, it was just something the village wanted to do this year for our bike riders.”
The new ordinance was approved by a 4-0 vote by the village trustees, with two trustees absent.
