Village to Welcome 3 New Firefighter/Paramedics: On the Agenda

Find out what's on the board's to-do list for Tuesday, March 25.

The Village of Homewood will gain a few more firefighters/paramedics Tuesday.

Three new part-time firefighter/paramedics will take the oath of office during Tuesday's Homewood Village Board meeting. Justin Arndt, Nathan Ivetec, and Steve Tolley will each be sworn into service.

Also in the realm of emergency services, a representative from the Homewood Emergency Medical Equipment Fund will present the Village with a check for $15,000 to be used toward the purchase of the new ambulance.

Also on the Agenda:
SOLICITOR, PEDDLER AND CANVASSER HOURS
Trustees will take a look at an ordinance amending Homewood Municipal Code Sections 74-32 and 74-144 revising the hours that solicitors, peddlers and canvassers may contact residents at home. Currently, hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Soliciting on Sundays is prohibited.

UPGRADES to BUSINESSES
Local business owners are asking for the Village's help in funding repairs or upgrades.

  • Amy Aurelio, owner of Just Between Trends located at 18150 Harwood Ave. will ask for assistance through the Go Green Reward Program to replace the HVAC system with an energy efficient system.
  • Sai Ling Fang, owner of property located at 18063 Dixie Highway, will ask for $2,076 from the Façade and Property Improvement Program to replace the storefront windows.
LIQUOR LICENSE for NEW 'DRAGON INN'
  • Michial Foy, owner of Dragon Inn restaurant, wants a liquor license for his proposed location at 2057 Ridge Road. The new Class 4B liquor license would not allow video gaming devices. If approved, the board would direct staff to draft an ordinance creating a Class 4B liquor license: restaurant with bar but no video gaming devices.
The board meets at 7:30 p.m., in the Village Hall Board Room, 2020 Chestnut Rd.
