Woodworth: 'We Need to Hear from Jackson'

Was Brian Woodworth out of line in his recent comments about Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. or is this a necessary reality check?

It has been several months now since 2nd Congressional District Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. .

His pursuits were initially reported to have taken him to rehab in Arizona, but . Congressman Jackson has yet to personally offer any formal comments on his condition. Instead, he’s relied on others such as wife Alderman Sandi Jackson and father Rev. Jesse Jackson to publically communicate—detail by small detail.

, we discussed the response strategy of Republican Brian Woodworth. At the time, Woodworth was abstaining from expressing any criticism of Congressman Jackson in response to his sudden health crisis. Now, that seems to have changed.

Woodworth’s office issued a press release on Aug. 8 in which Woodworth claims he is fed up with hearing status updates on Congressman Jackson through “surrogates.” Woodworth continues:

Surely the person collecting the paycheck, with a great healthcare plan and benefits, should be the one calling these mayors and assuring the public which Congressman Jackson represents. The examples here are former Congresswoman Gabrielle “Gabby” Gifford and U.S. Senator Mark Kirk. Both displayed their enervative conditions in YouTube videos; why can’t the Congressman do likewise? Something is truly rotten in the 2nd Congressional District.

Therefore, if the Congressman feels he is ready to campaign, I say he needs to engage in a public debate in order to demonstrate he is capable of being about the people’s business. Personally, I don’t think he could stomach it.

Congressman Jackson has yet to offer an official response to Woodworth’s statements.

Do you think Woodworth’s last line, “Personally, I don’t think he could stomach it,” is an insensitive low blow or is this a necessary reality check?

Tell us what you think in the comments.

Who knows what is really going on with Jesse Jr? With Senator Kirk, he released every detail of his illness, and I feel that Jackson should do the same. We are paying him to do a job, and he isn't doing it. We really need to vote him OUT!! He is doing nothing for this area of the district.

JESSE JACKSON JR. RETURNS!! Well, not to Congress but to the FluffingtonPost. Enjoy the latest update in this funny fake-news blog posting as his father goes trolling for media coverage at the Drew Peterson trial and refuting criticism that the Mayo Clinic is "too white" for his son: http://www.chicagonow.com/fluffington-post/2012/08/jesse-jackson-jr-mayo-update/

We have world class medical facilities right here in the Chicago area. Why did Jesse Jr. feel it necessary to travel to Minnesota for medical treatment? It's bogus. I believe nothing that comes out of his mouth or that of his father or wife. I don't believe he is in any sort of rehab in Minnesota or any where else. He's just in hiding.

RIGHT ON!! He is waiting for the investigation of his trying to buy Obama's senate seat to come out. I hope he gets censured. Electing him would be like whiping a dead horse.

Sandi Jackson and Jesse Sr. are going around with a 'bag of money' $40,000 dollars paying off an editor not to write any further stories on me and my campaign. We have notified the FBI on August 1st, 2012.
