Who Do You Trust With Your Child's Health?

Don't miss the opportunity to nominate what you feel is the BEST pediatrician in your community or a surrounding town.

Caring for your child's health is a big responsibility, and finding the right doctor can make it a lot easier.

So tell us—Who's the best pediatrician in the area? There's no doubt that we have a repertoire of options.

Nominate your favorite pediatrician by telling us in the comments. Here are a few examples, but they MUST BE NOMINATED to be included in the poll! As places are nominated, they'll be added to a list and bolded.

We will accept nominations through July 9.

I take my girls to see Dr. Sewall from the Family Christian Health Center in Harvey. She's fabulous, she knows the girls names when we walk in the door and she doesn't need the chart to know their history!
TP June 26, 2012 at 02:48 PM
Dr Bharti Amin ! She has loved my kids for 16 years! It is just her so no other doctor that only knows your name because of the chart they are holding is on call, just her! She is truly amazing and I tell everyone I can to go to her! Her staff is also wonderful. Kind and accommodating. Offices in Matteson and Frankfort!!

Definitely Dr. Roome. My 25 year old daughter wishes she could still go to Dr. Roome. We loved him!

Dr. Roome!

Dr. Mark Roome--excellent with my children and concerned about me as well.
EHildy June 26, 2012 at 04:15 PM
Dr. Mark Ambrose gets my vote 100% He used to be in Flossmoor and Hazel Crest but now sees patients in Harvey and Orland. He is SO worth the drive though as he is awesome!!!
Karen June 26, 2012 at 06:13 PM
Dr. Roome! He is truly gifted with the ability to work with children, and he is genuinely caring. I always feel that he has my child's best interest in mind.

Dr. Jonathan Belgrad in Mokena. We had our pediatrician all set up, but meeting Dr. Belgrad in the hospital changed our minds. His concern for our daughter is evident, he is very knowledgeable yet still double-checks himself, and he is VERY patient with this anxious, first time mom. Plus he's pretty young so Violet can see him through adolescence.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Amin! She was my Dr. as a child and now all 3 of my kids! I love the family feel you get from office visits and the interest she takes in the kids (but I miss Sharon)

I'm so sad, Dr. Dorsey and Townsend completely disappeared off the face of the earth :(
FlossmoorMom June 26, 2012 at 07:08 PM
Dr. Dorsey and Dr. Townsend were the best that they ever had at Child Life Center... but they are both gone. I haven't really bonded with the other doctors there, and am trying to find a new one.

Dr Roome is wonderful. I'm a very nervous new mom and he is so patient with me, and he is great with my son.
Marj O'Leary June 26, 2012 at 07:23 PM
Dr. Moon Kim in Flossmoor. He is in practice by himself so you can always reach him, anytime. When my son was very sick his answering service patched me through to him within minutes on a Saturday morning. He also met us at the hospital to do blood tests himself as he thought it would be less traumatic for my then 2 year old. I wish we could still go to him, but my children are now college age! I highly recommend him - he is a caring, knowledgeable pediatrician.

I couldn't agree more. The comment made by Alme was completely inappropriate and should be removed from this thread. This is an article asking you to nominate your favorite pediatrician, not bad-mouth others. Dr. Roome is an EXCELLENT pediatrian and I cannot say enough good things about him. He gets my vote hands down.

You should be VERY careful documenting rumors like this...hope an affair or personal tragedy never happens in your life and someone writes about it like it's nothing...just like you just did..not very christian-like...think about it....

Dr. Lin offers a rare and much need holistic and patient-centered approach to health care. His demeanor was always patient, calm and attentive with my daughter and he provides care that includes homeopathy which is in short supply here in the south suburbs. Although the wait was sometimes long, I was always sure that we would never feel rushed during our appointment because Dr. Lin focuses completely on the needs of his current patient. In a time when many doctors seem to want to spend as little time as possible in the room with their patient, Dr. Lin is a breath of fresh air. He is not strictly a pediatrician but has a wonderful way with children and has special knowledge of allergies and their treatment.
Laura June 26, 2012 at 08:04 PM
I have to disagree across the board about Dr. Roome. Condescending, judgmental and non-responsive, to say the least. Dr. Caroline Olaleye, in the same practice, however, has been fabulous with my kids and with me.
FlossmoorMom June 26, 2012 at 08:37 PM
@hope4peace where is Dr. Lin located?!
Joy H June 26, 2012 at 09:20 PM
Would have to agree with Laura on that one. And we love Dr. Olaleye as well.

@FlossmoorMom Dr. Lin is in the Flossmoor Commons complex. Last I heard he was scaling back his hours and I am not sure what his current patient load is. Here's a link to his info and other patient reviews. He's received special recognition for compassion and patient satisfaction on this site: http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Ming-Te_Lin.html

I've seen both sides of Dr. Roome. I have found him to be very responsive and compassionate with my children during emergencies and routine visits. On the other hand, I have had experiences where he exhibited condescension and judgment when my opinions differed from his or when my experiences were not within his realm of understanding.

Roome rocks. Awesome doc!
Calliope June 27, 2012 at 01:25 AM
Gene Denning, D.O. at Hahn Pediatric in Tinley Park. He is gentle, kind, and compassionate. He doesn't speak down to parents or children, and he explains things thoroughly, including why certain treatments are or are not necessary. Our family appreciates his approach as a D.O. to the health and well being of the whole child.

I have to say Dr. Mark Roome! I met him approximately 21 years ago when he came to The Child Life Center fresh out of residency. Dr. Joel Schwab was my pediatrician as well as my children(s) and asked me during a visit if I wouldn't mind if Dr. Roome could diagnose the illness one of my kids was having. I agreed, and from that moment on, I found him to be a sincere, caring, and compassionate doctor who always treated me and my children with the utmost respect. My children are now grown and wish that they could find a doctor with such caring as Dr. Roome!

I didnt see this until now...I wish I would have Dr Roome has treated all 8 of my kids, my brother and both my sisters. He is ver direct and to the point but is AWESOME with the kids. You might not like what he has to say but he would NEVER steer you wrong. Everyone has a bad day even doctors so for the couple people that complained maybe, just maybe, it was his turn to have a bad day. Maybe get to know him more as a person and you might understand more. You have to be just as patient and understand as you would as of him and the office! YOU ROCK DR ROOME!!!!

Mark Ambrose is a physician assistant and not a physician. He is a PA and not a MD. Never the less, he is a great medical provider.
