Punch 2 For Bright-Pugh

My name is Rebecca Bright-Pugh and I am a candidate for the HF Park District Board of Commissioners.

Protecting our assets, and our future

My name is Rebecca Bright-Pugh and I am a candidate for the HF Park District Board of Commissioners.

I decided to run for the Board because our Park District matters dearly to me; and, even more important, I know how much it means to our children. As a mother of two girls (8 and 10), a Homewood teacher (Churchhill Elementary 4th grade), athlete (former All American basketball player) and wife, I am a firm believer that athletics and extracurricular activities play a vital developmental role in our children's lives.  Indeed they are part of the fabric that binds Homewood and Flossmoor and our community as a whole.

When I think about the Park District and its programs, I see a good thing that I only want to make better.  My husband and I have lived in Flossmoor for ten years, and I am proud that our family has taken part in Park District activities for the entire time.  As a Homewood teacher, I am fortunate to know the needs of children, and I want to make sure that their needs continue to be central in the decisions that our Park District makes.  I also believe that the Park District Board should reflect the full spectrum of our community's diversity.  As an African American woman, I believe I can add a perspective that the Board certainly needs.

Lastly, as a mother of two girls, it is very important to me that the resources devoted to girls activities receive just as much time, planning and financial resources as the outstanding activities that it provides its boys.

In closing, I ask for your vote this Tuesday.  If you want a Park District that is devoted to its children and understands that, while it is very good, it has room to improve, please "Punch 2 for Bright-Pugh!"
