Used Car VS Certified Pre-Owned? Is there a Difference?

Is there Really a Difference between a "Used Cars" and a "Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle"?

Hi There!! My Name is Redd Walker (You Know, The Red Headed Guy) and I have been in the Car Business for a little bit over 18 Years. The Most Popular Question I’m asked is “What’s the Difference between a Regular Used Car and a “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” ?

I don’t have enough space in this blog to go through every detail of the Certified Program, but I will try and touch on some of the main points:

First, Make sure it is a TRUE Ford Certified Vehicle. Any Dealership can tell you Any Vehicle is a Certified Car. Most of the Time all they Certify it that it’s a Used Car. To make sure you get the Quality and Reliability of a True Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle, be sure to look for our Logo.

QUALITY:

At most Dealerships a “Regular Used Car” is lucky to get a basic oil change and wash job. A “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” under goes a Complete 172 Point Inspection by a Ford Certified Mechanic to ensure Top Quality to our Used Car Buyers. This includes Oil Change, Inspection the Brakes, Tires, Seals, Engine, Transmission, Exhaust, Sound System, Axles, Driveshaft, Cooling and Heating system, alternator, starter, electrical system, Air Bag System, ABS System, Traction Control System, Even the Light Bulbs, And So much More I don’t have enough space to write it all out (but If you stop in the dealership I can show you the complete list).

Every “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” Meets or Exceeds Ford’s Certified Vehicle Standards. All of the Paperwork on what was inspected AND what work was completed, When the work was Completed, Even the Mechanic’s Name that Completed the work is available at the Dealership. Any Dealership can tell you “Yea, we inspected that car”. Ask to see the Inspection Paperwork. If they can’t provide it right away, something isn’t right. As the old saying goes “In God We Trust, Everyone else needs to put it in writing”. At Van Drunen Ford we can show it to you in writing so you know exactly what you are getting.

And you get a few little extra perks that you usually only get when you purchase a new vehicle, like a Complete Detail and Full Tank of Gas at the time of delivery, 2 Sets of Keys, and Owners Manual.

Plus you do have the option of taking the vehicle to your own mechanic for an inspection if you want to get a second opinion.

Free Title History Report:

At Van Drunen Ford we give you a FREE Experian Title History Report. This Report lets you know How Many Reported Previous Owners the vehicle had, where it’s been titled, has it been reported in an accidents, Insurance Claims, Flood Damage, Salvage Title, Lemon Law Vehicle, Odometer Problems and more. This way to know where your vehicle has been. If a Dealership can’t give you a FREE Title History Report, or tells you something like “You’re Welcome to go online and get one yourself” may be trying to hide something from you.

WARRANTY:

Most “Regular Used Cars” may come with some type of 3 Day or 7 Day Warranty, or they offer some Mickey Mouse Aftermarket Warranty you’ve never heard of and is only good at the original dealership.

Because we complete such a Thorough inspection, Ford Motor Company stands behind every “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” by Giving you the Piece of Mind with an Excellent Warranty Package. A “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” Comes with:

---Balance of Factory 3yr/36,000 Mile Bumper to Bumper Warranty OR if the Factory Bumper to Bumper is expired you get a 12 Month/12,000 Mile Bumper to Bumper Warranty from Date of Purchase.

---Balance of a 7Yr/100,000 Mile Power Train Warranty WITH Nationwide 24 Hour Roadside Assistance.
(Keep in Mind, when you buy a Brand New Ford you only get a 5yr/60,000 Mile Power Train Warranty, so the Certified Pre-OWned Vehicle extends the warranty 2 years and 40,000 Miles)

Extended Bumper to Bumper Coverage is Available – See Dealership for Details.

These Warranties are backed by Ford Motor Company, so they are good at any Ford Dealership Nationwide. See Redd Walker at Van Drunen Ford in Homewood for complete details.

Financing:

On most “Regular Used Cars” there are no special financing programs, which means you could get stuck paying a Higher Interest Rate.

A “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle”  has Special Financing programs Available. As of August 29th 2012 the Current Special is 1.9% for up to 60 Months. (specials subject to change, See Redd Walker at Van Drunen Ford for Current Special Offers and to see if you qualify)

I always say that a “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle” is as close to buying a new vehicle, without paying new car prices.

I hope this helps a little bit to tell the difference between a Regular Used Car, and “Van Drunen Ford Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle”
