Eleven students are now facing criminal charges after orchestrating and taking part in an elaborate senior prank last weekend, according to police.

Flossmoor Deputy Police Chief Mike Pulec said the eleven students, possibly more, executed a two-stage prank in the early hours of Friday morning.

"It's been a while since we have had something like this," Deputy Chief Pulec said.

Exploding fireworks near the football field initially alerted high school security of the prank, according to police. Police said they were called as security responded to the explosions. The group of students responsible for igniting the fireworks scattered, but not before security managed to apprehend three of them, according to police.

Simultaneously, as security was busy dealing with the firework situation, a separate group of students vandalized the "Senior Deck" and building "G" with eggs and paint, which involved spray-painting lewd figures on the building doors, according to police. The group also scattered litter about the grounds, including the bio-pond, according to police.

H-F High School is reporting nearly $4,000 in damages.

According to police, one of the apprehended students confirmed during interrogation that the firework display was a planned distraction from the vandalism. Additionally, police said their interrogation of the three apprehended students allowed them to identify eight more pranksters.

Pulec said the eleven students, all seniors at H-F High, have been collectively charged with mob action, a class "C" misdemeanor. He hopes the charges will serve as an important reminder, especially to other students.

"Think before you act," Pulec said.

H-F High School administration has yet to comment on any disciplinary action that may be taken against the prankster students. It is unknown whether or not they will be involved in the procession during the high school's graduation ceremony this Sunday.
