Back to School: Save the Dates

The start of the school year is quickly approaching, and we've got a list of important dates Homewood-Flossmoor parents shouldn't miss.

It's August, and that means summer is coming to a close and the beginning of a new school year is right around the corner. However, between paying registration fees, buying school supplies, and attending open houses, parents have a lot on their plates before the school year gets into full swing. Here are some important dates to remember for , as well as the area elementary and junior high schools in and :

Homewood-Flossmoor High School

Aug. 1-6: Book and Fee Days, South Cafeteria

On these days, parents can verify residency, pay registration fees, pick up textbooks schedules, update contact information, receive bus route information, and purchase gym uniforms and school spirit wear. The school will also be issuing student IDs and gym locks.

The school has designated the following days and times based on students' last names:

Last Names A-Gayles:  Wednesday, Aug. 1, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Last Names Gb-O:  Thursday, Aug. 2, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

All Last Names:  Friday, Aug. 3, 8 a.m.-Noon

All Last Names:  Saturday, Aug. 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Last Names P-Z:  Monday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Families with a conflicting schedule for their designated day may come any other day they can. The registration fee is $295 through Aug. 6, and it increases to $350 after that.

Aug. 8: Freshman orientation, 8:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Freshman parent orientation, 7 p.m., Mall Auditorium

Aug. 15: First day of classes

Aug. 17, 20: Underclassman yearbook photos, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Fieldhouse & South Gym

Homewood School District 153

(Willow, Churchill, Millennium, and James Hart Schools)

Aug. 8: Market Day pickup, 6:15-7 p.m., James Hartfield Cafetorium

Aug. 23: First day of school

 

Flossmoor School District 161

(Western Avenue Elementary School, Flossmoor Hills Elementary School, Heather Hill Elementary School, Serena Hills Elementary School)

Aug. 9: New Student Registration and Residency Verification, Parker Junior High, 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Aug. 20: Residency Verification, Parker Junior High, 1 p.m.-6 p.m.

Aug 22: First day of school, Grades 1-8

Aug. 23: First day of school, Pre-K/Early Childhood/Kindergarten

Aug. 29: Elementary Open Houses

Aug. 30: Junior High Open House

 

Heather Hill Elementary:

Aug. 23: New student/family orientation, 6:30 p.m.

 

Parker Junior High:

Aug. 29: Picture Day
