Waste Oil Drop-Off

Local biodiesel producer, Barry Latham, will be collecting used vegetable oil after Thanksgiving. For all of you that deep fry a turkey (or even just saute some vegetables), this is a perfect opportunity to dispose of your oil in a very responsible manner. It must be vegetable oil (no motor oil or other petroleum products) and must be a liquid at room temperature (no animal grease/fat).

The safest way to drop off the oil is to wait until the oil has cooled to room temperature and return it to its original container. Seal it and bring the entire container to the locations listed below. For every person that drops off oil, they will receive a free 12 oz. bottle of liquid all-purpose soap and degreaser. It is a co-product of producing biodiesel and very biodegradable. This soap works on hair, skin, clothes, dishes, etc. (As with any new cleaner, test it on a small area first.) The soap is in limited supply, so is available only while supplies last.

For additional drop-off times and locations, please leave a comment. A pick-up may be possible depending on the location and volume of oil.
