Extreme Cold Update: Homewood, Flossmoor Closures

National Weather Service warns of dangerously cold temperatures; wind chill advisory will last until Wednesday.

It's hard to believe, but Monday could bring the coldest weather so far this winter, with some parts of Chicagoland seeing wind chills as low as -50.
    In response to the potentially dangerous cold, area school districts and other organizations began announcing closures on Sunday.

    Here's a list of reported Monday closures:

    • Homewood-Flossmoor High School
    • Homewood School District 153
    • Flossmoor School District 161
    • Prairie State College
    • Infant Jesus of Prague School
    • St. Joseph School
    • Marian Catholic High School
    • Homewood Girl Scouts meeting
    • Early Childhood Preschool
    • Flossmoor Community Church Preschool
    • Sylvan Learning Center
    • South Suburban Humane Society
    • Early Childhood Preschool
    Amended Monday Hours
    • Bright Start Child Care & Preschool will open late at 8 a.m.
    • Sunrise Health Foods Store in Flossmoor
    • Homewood Library closing at 5 p.m.
    Tuesday Closures
    • H-F High School
    • Homewood School District 153
    • Flossmoor School District 161
    • Flossmoor Montessori School
    • Flossmoor Community Church Preschool
    • Early Childhood Preschool
    • South Suburban Humane Society
    • Sylvan Learning Center

    Additional Weather-related Changes

    • H-F High School will be holding 50-minute classes for the rest of the week (barring Tuesday's closure).
    • South Suburban Humane Society will open late at noon on Wednesday.
