'Fresh Blood' on the H-F High School Board

Homewood-Flossmoor High School's newest board member is a critical thinker, according to Supt. Dr. Von Mansfield.

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233 board swore in new member Tim Wenckus during their Sept. 17 meeting.

Wenckus, a technical manager at Rexam Beverage Can in Chicago, holds a master's degree in chemistry from DePaul University, reports the Northwest Indiana Times. He currently has two girls enrolled in H-F High School and another on the way.  In addition to his professional work, Wenckus is also very active in coaching local girls softball.

"Tim’s critical-thinking skills and ability to work collaboratively will be a true asset as he assumes this important role for our community," District 233 Supt. Dr. Von Mansfield said in a NWI Times report. "As a Viking parent, he understands the importance of maintaining our tradition of academic excellence, along with innovative programming, to help students reach their full potential."
