H-F High School HR Director Leaving After 16 Years

After 16 years of service as the Human Resources Director at , Dave Thieman announced that he will be resigning from his position to become the new superintendent of Steger School District 194. Thieman made this announcement during the March 15 high school board meeting.

“I was very excited about the opportunity, but also saddened,” Thieman said. “(H-F is) one of the best high schools in the country.”

Thieman says he will miss the deep relationships he has made over the past 16 years.

“The friendships will remain,” Thieman said. “(And) Steger 194 is an outstanding school district with a great reputation.”

He says that has been phenomenal in its support of his decision.

The news of Thieman’s recent employment at Steger appropriately coincides with the nearing completion of his doctorate degree in educational leadership from DePaul University. He’s been working on it for the past five years and says he should be finished this year. He has also earned two masters from Governors State University.

Thieman’s scholarship is indicative of his hard work ethic. He views his new position as one that he earned.

“(It’s) something I knew I could be proficient in,” Thieman said. “I worked hard to complete the necessary coursework, and I worked really hard to hone the skills that it requires.”

Despite the recent hire of former Marketing and Public Relations Manager Nicole Castagna, Thieman says the high school has not yet made any decision on a replacement.

Thieman still has three months left at H-F to say his goodbyes. His first day as superintendent will be July 1.
