Wolcott School Families Want to Join H-F District 233

Families from Wolcott School met June 4, to discuss possibly detaching from the Thornwood High School District 205 and joining Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233.

Faced with the option of sending their children to Thornwood High School or sending their child to a private school or one out of district, several families from Wolcott School met June 4, to discuss the possibility of detaching from Thornton Thornton High School District 205, and instead joining Homewood-Flossmoor High School District 233.

The move, which would likely take several years and legal action to complete, is spearheaded by parents dissatisfied with the educational standards in their current district.

“Thornwood High School has very poor academic performance,” read a slide in the group's presentation during the meeting. Should the group begin in trying to detach from the current district, the fight for detachment might be a long and arduous one, according to the group's website. The site states that it could take two to four years to fully detach and that it could cost between $25,000 to $50,000.
