Book Donation Offers Comfort to District 153 Students

A special collection of books have been donated to District 153 to help students faced with illness or loss.

District 153 is a recent recipient of a generous donation of books funded by a donation to the Homewood Public Library.  The special collection of titles is intended to offer hope and comfort to children faced with illness or loss.

“These books will be so helpful to staff, like me, who try to help students who are experiencing tough issues like an illness or death in their family,” said Brianne Oliver, a school psychologist at Churchill School. "We're so grateful for this thoughtful donation."

Oliver and the HPL’s Youth Services department worked together to compile a list of age-appropriate titles for the district’s four schools.

An additional set of the same titles were purchased for the Homewood Public Library to be available to the entire community.

The donation was made in memory of Wallace C. Dralle, by his wife, Sue.
