James Hart Fall Play to Feature Costuming by Acclaimed Mask-Maker

"Aesop's Open Auditions" takes to the James Hart stage this weekend. The play's costumes will feature exquisite masks made specifically for this production by a Chicago-based artisan.

The James Hart Drama Club Fall Play this year is "Aesop's Open Auditions," by Dave Brandl, a family comedy wherein the animals from the original Aesop’s fables are auditioning for the first all-new Aesop’s fable in over 2,500 years. To set the mood for the play, the evening will open with a mini-storytelling festival of Aesop’s fables.

Many of the actors in this year’s production will be adorned in hand-crafted masks created by acclaimed Chicago-based artisan Jeff Semmerling. Semmerling has produced masks for Chicago's Goodman Theatre, Disney/MGM Studios Theme Park and others. Currently, he is creating masks for the White House’s Halloween celebration.

"Aesop’s Open Auditions" is on stage Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hart/Millennium Gym. Tickets are available at the door for $5.
