Athlete of the Week: H-F's Ehimwenman Leaps Into State Lore

The Ohio State-bound track and field star wins two individual titles at the girls track and field finals—Homewood-Flossmoor's first individual state titles in over 10 years.

Abie Ehimwenman has been the recipient of numerous accolades this season. But now the Homewood-Flossmoor track and field star can be called a state champion.

Ehimwenman’s individual state titles were the first the Vikings have claimed in over 10 years, and they helped the school finish fourth in the team standings in the Class 3A girls finals.

After finishing second last season to Downers Grove South's Tori Franklin in the triple jump, Ehimwenman returned the favor this year, besting Franklin for the top spot.

The Ohio State-bound Ehimwenman also picked a good time to have her personal best in the triple jump, with a 40-4. It was the first time she’s broken the 40-foot mark in a state competition.
