Athlete of the Week: Yes, the Butler Did It for H-F Football

Vikings

In its first two games, the Homewood-Flossmoor football team has scored 123 points. One of the key offensive figures for the Vikings is wideout Gerald Butler.

Butler's talents were on display in the Vikings' 47-0 victory over Deerfield on Friday night. He scored three touchdowns as H-F raised its record to 2-0. And he is reconized today for his efforts as the Patch Athlete of the Week for Homewood-Flossmoor.

Butler caught two touchdown passes against Deerfield and ran for another score. He finished with three catches for 78 yards and one rush for 12 yards.

H-F quarterback Tim Williams found Butler wide open in the end zone for a 19-yard touchdown on the Vikings' first possession to make the score 7-0. Butler ran the ball in from 12-yards out early in the second quarter to extend the Vikings' lead to 27-0.

Then, with 5:20 left in the first half, Williams threw a deep pass to Butler, who just barley hung on and ran into the end zone for a 50-yard touchdown to give the Vikings a 33-0 lead.
