Baseball: H-F Riding the Wave of Solid Pitching

H-F 5, Bradley-Bourbonnais 1. Vikings notch their sixth straight victory, improve to 8-1 overall, behind the pitching of David Fatoki and Dan Lietz.

Touching All the Bases: Homewood-Flossmoor starter David Fatoki was outstanding in a 5-1 baseball victory over Bradley-Bourbonnais on Thursday. He worked five innings and allowed just one unearned run. A single and three passed balls allowed the Braves to score the lone run in the first. The Vikings came right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Dan Lietz. H-F scored two more runs in the second thanks to some poor defense by the Boilermakers. Another Bradley error in the fourth allowed another run to score and the Vikings manufactured their final run in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a superb sacrifice bunt by Chris Michaels. Lietz closed out the final two innings on the mound, striking out four and not giving up a hit.

Patch’s MVP: Nico Kelly, H-F.  Kelly was 3-for-4 and scored two runs. He singled and scored in the first and doubled and scored in the fourth.

H-F Leaders: In addition to Kelly, Ben Kirchler continued his torrid week, getting two more hits after hitting for the cycle Wednesday.
