Baseball: H-F Takes Advantage of Rich Central Miscues

HF 12, Rich Central 6. Vikings' David Fatoki limits Olympians to four hits in six innings and one earned run.

Touching All the bases: In a baseball game where the two teams combined to make 12 errors, Homewood-Flossmoor had an old adage working for it in a 12-6 victory over Rich Central. The Vikings committed fewer errors than the Olympians (8-4). And, it's usually the case that the team with the fewest errors wins.

H-F scored four runs in the first inning on two fielding errors by Rich Central. The Olympians came right back to score two runs in the bottom half of the inning on the three Viking errors. The teams settled down until the fourth inning when the Vikings scored three runs on two more errors to make it 7-2.

Rich Central got right back into the game in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs. But, over the final three innings, the Vikings scored five runs on four more Olympians errors. David Fatoki picked up the win on the mound for the Vikings. He pitched six innings, giving up just one earned run and four hits while striking out seven.
