Boys Basketball: H-F Holds Off Bolingbrook, Remains Undefeated in Conference

Homewood-Flossmoor 58, Bolingbrook 54. The Vikings survived a late Bolingbrook rally, as the Raiders tried to stage their second upset in a week.

The Hot Read: Homewood-Flossmoor received a treat Friday night as 6-foot-7 junior forward Tim Williams returned to action from an ankle injury he suffered in late November. H-F led 12-8 to start the second quarter, and Williams extended the lead for the Vikings, scoring on an offensive rebound and nailing a three-pointer. H-F hit two more three-pointers in the second quarter and the Vikings lead 27-18 at halftime.

Trailing by nine points entering the fourth quarter, Bolingbrook didn’t give up. The Raiders were hoping the magic would extend from their victory over Lockport a week prior, and it almost did. With 2:40 to play, senior guard Dan Fisher cut the lead to 46-40 on a fast-break lay-up. The Raiders got within four at 47-43, but that’s the closest they would get, as H-F hit its free throws down the stretch.

Patch’s MVP: H-F guard Julian Lewis (20 points, 4 rebounds). Lewis found his shooting touch, which H-F coach Jim McLaughlin said had been missing recently.
