H-F PARK DISTRICT 2012 “MUSIC IN THE PARK” CONCERT SERIES

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has brought top-notch entertainment for more than two decades to the Marie Irwin Band shell and this year is no exception. Prepare for an all FREE summer of music!

The 2012 “Music in the Park” schedule kicks off with the “Starry Nights” concert series, now in its 26th year. “Starry Nights” features three shows for concert-goers to enjoy:

Thursday, June 14th - Maggie Speaks

The H-F Community Band will open for all three “Starry Nights” performances at 6:15 p.m. Headline entertainment
will begin at 7:00 p.m.

In case of rain, the “Starry Nights” concerts will be held at the HFPD Auditorium (2010 Chestnut, Homewood).

Rounding out the rest of the “Music in the Park” concert series:

Thursdays, June 21st, July 26th and August 2nd at 6:15 p.m. – HF Community Band
The H-F Marching Band will also perform at the August 2nd show.

Thursday, July 5th at 6:00 p.m. - Teens with Talent (presented by Homewood Public Library)

Thursday, July 12th at 5:00 p.m. - Teen Battle of the Bands

Friday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. - Regional Teen Battle of the Bands

Wednesday, August 8th 6:00 p.m. – Homewood Idol Preliminaries

Thursday, August 9th at 7:00 p.m. - Homewood Idol (sponsored by Travel Brokers & the Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce)

Thursday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. - School of Rock and Teen Battle of the Bands Winner

Thursday, August 23rd at 7:00 p.m. - H-F High School Inspirational Voices Choir

Saturday, August 25th from 11 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. - Music Fest 2012

Admission to all “Music in the Park” concerts is FREE and are held at the Marie Irwin Band shell (Irwin Park at Ridge Road and Highland Avenue, Homewood) with the exception of the “Homewood Idol Preliminaries”, which is held at Wiley’s Grill located at Coyote Run Golf Course (800 Kedzie Avenue, Flossmoor).

Food and beverages will be available from vendors throughout the series. Alcohol will be available for purchase at “Starry Nights” only. All “Music in the Park” events are smoke-free.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is a two-time National Gold Medal Award Winner for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.
