Football: Bolingbrook Earns H-F's Respect

Bolingbrook 41, Homewood-Flossmoor 28: The Raiders jumped to a 27-0 lead and then held on in the second half, setting up a battle with Lincoln-Way East next Friday for first place in the Southwest Suburban Blue.

Breaking It Down: Most of the talk coming into the football season in the Southwest Suburban Blue Conference was about the talent of Lincoln-Way East and Homewood-Flossmoor. After Bolingbrook’s 41-28 defeat of the Vikings on Friday night, the Raiders have to be mentioned in the same breath as the Griffins.

Bolingbrook jumped to a 27-0 lead in the first half to stun the Viking crowd. Quarterback Aaron Bailey put the Raiders on the board on the first possession of the game on a 2-yard run to make it 6-0. After the Vikings stalled on offense, the Raiders’ D.J. Pruitt returned an H-F punt 67 yards for a touchdown. The Raiders added the two-point conversion and led 14-0.

On H-F's next possession, quarterback Tim Williams threw a pass that was picked off by Tevin Teamer. Bailey made it 21-0 on a 5-yard touchdown run. Then, on the Vikings' very next play, Williams threw another interception to Teamer. Jaden Huff scampered in from 2 yards out to make it 27-0 with less than a minute left in the first quarter.
