H-F Girls Poised to Pounce in Basketball Power Rankings

Homewood-Flossmoor Girls came in at no. 3 in this week's analysis.

1. Marist (11-0): Asianna Bey gives the RedHawks a powerful presence down low, too. Bey controlled the paint in a 47-43 victory over Marian Catholic.

2. Lincoln-Way East (7-0): The Griffins begin defense of their Medieval Classic crown vs. Plainfield South on Dec. 26.

3. Homewood-Flossmoor (9-3): Western Illinois recruit Charnelle Reed topped the 1,000-point barrier in a loss to Lincoln-Way East.

4. Lincoln-Way North (10-2): Ashley Weringa, Sam Pietruszynski and Taylor Boardman can play some ‘D’ and the three have the Phoenix poised to make more noise at the Medieval Classic.

5. Rich Central (11-3 ): Tatiana Newell scored 24 points in a 71-33 victory over Kankakee. Next for the Rockets is the Hillcrest Holiday Classic Dec. 27-29.
