H-F's Reed Accepts Scholarship Offer from Western Illinois

Vikings girls basketball player Charnelle Reed verbally accepts scholarship offer from the Fighting Leathernecks, while a pair of former Vikings boost Prairie State's boys golf team to its first conference win of the year.

girls basketball standout Charnelle Reed has verbally committed to Western Illinois University.

Reed chose Western after also considering Wright State and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in her final three choices. Earlier in her recruitment, Illinois-Chicago and Eastern Michigan were considered, and Reed also had offers from the University of Southern Indiana and Missouri Western State.

Reed, currently a senior at H-F, also plays club ball for Chicago Hoops Express.

Girls Tennis: H-F's Shannon Keeps Rolling

Dana Shannon won at second singles for Homewood-Flossmoor to remain undefeated through the first eight matches of the year on Monday, Sept. 12, as the Vikings defeated Young 3-2.

Prairie State Golf Team Gets Boost from Former Vikings

The Prairie State Pioneers earned their first first-place finish of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference match at Mission Hills Golf Course. The Pioneers shot a team score of 305, edging Moraine Valley by three strokes for the win.

Homewood-Flossmoor graduate Landon Lukasik, a sophomore at Prairie State, earned medalist honors with a round of 73. Kevin Holtz, also a sophomore and a graduate of H-F, shot a 79 to help the Pioneers earn the victory.

Boys Soccer: Marian Falls in 3rd-Place Match

Marian Catholic fell 3-0 to Sandburg on Saturday in the third-place match at the Lincoln-Way North Invite.
